To An Old Labrador:
A paw that's laid upon my knee,
And questing eyes that gaze at me,
And furrowed, slightly worried,
browTwixt turn'd out ears;
all ask-'What now'?
My hand goes out to smooth the coat.
It sears my loving heart to note,
The clear brown eyes now dimming blue,
And muzzle turned all grey in hue,
Full fourteen years, in canine age,
Will spell the turning of a page
Ere many moons shall pass.
I know.It is inevitably so.
Yet still her coat has shine as sheen,
And still her appetite is keen.
With greedy love love, and hope,
I pray,That God may yet defer the day,
When shadow at my feet will be,
Only the ghost that I shall see,
Soothing my mind with memory,
Of field and marsh and forest tree,
Where two hearts beat and were but oneIn seeking what befell the gun.
My fingers fondle under ears,
I fight with sentimental fears.
I'm deeply troubled in my mind,
What best to do?...To leave behind
Will cause her misery and pain,
And if she comes, there's risk again.
The slope on Forest Hill,
Even the cleanest kill,
May fall two hundred feet below,
To bramble, blanketed in snow
My own short breath and rheumy back
Confine me to the level track.

Although we brought home only two,It did not seem, to us, too few. We'd stolen yet another day
That no-one now could take away.
Contented, by the warm fireside,Our love was not unmix'd with pride.

We believe the ethical breeder lives for his dogs and not off his dogs.
I believe there are more than enough dogs and puppies in this world toay. And if I am going to intentionally bring more of them into this world. I'd better make sure they have a great home, and that I'm willing to stand behind my dogs, be honest, and never hesitate in taking one of my puppies or dogs back during anytime in their lives. A true and honest breeder is here for the life of the dog, I'm here to help 5, 10, 15 years down the road, not just until the money is in hand. We will not sell to brokers and we require all our potential owners to fill out an application. It's not to be nosey, but to make sure our puppy is going to a loving life-time home.
That's Why Our Motto Is: We Breed For Quality, NOT Quantity.
We've been breeding quality Labradors since 2000.
We CARE about what we do and we're NOT a puppy-mill, I repeat, NOT a puppy-mill out to make money! We only have 1-2 litters per year at most, therefore a waiting list is not uncommon. And we never sell our puppies to puppy-mills, brokers or pet shops. We have black, yellow and chocolates. We DO NOT breed Silvers. Here's why:
We have been responsibly breeding American Field Champion Bloodlines and Old style Labradors since 2000. We take exceptional care of our dogs and puppies. All of our dogs are free of Hip Dysplasia and any other clinical joint disease if bred. Many have their eyes examined by a board certified canine opthalmologist and CERF/ACVO certified free of PRA and RD or other genetic blindness problems before breeding as well.
All of our breedings are planned well in advanced and pedigrees and dogs are matched to produce the best quality puppies possible. Our mothers are very well cared for and we take exceptional care of them during pregnancy. Our puppies are raised in a very comfortable, clean and safe environment indoors. We feed our mothers and puppies Diamond Naturals Puppy and our adults Diamond Naturals Chicken & Rice Adult. Containing NO corn, NO wheat and mostly meat. Our puppies are de-wormed with Nemex II and Panacur at 3, 5 and 7 weeks of age. They are also vaccinated with a 6-way 'puppy shot' and 3-way kennel cough vaccine. And are vet checked before they leave. We also AVID micro-chip our puppies for their safety. All puppies come with a 30 day money back agreement and are warranteed against hip dysplasia. All puppies will be sold on Limited AKC and/or UKC registration. All puppies will be required to be kept on NuVet Plus vitamins during the first 12 months of their growth. We do ship our puppies for an additonal fee.
If you have any questions feel free to call or e-mail us anytime.
